Sun Valley Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Wagon Days

May 30, 2008

On Labor Day weekend, the cities of Ketchum and Sun Valley, Idaho host the historic Wagon Days Celebration, packed with a variety of activities, many of which celebrate the valley’s mining history. This year, Wagon Days celebrates its 50th anniversary and will be filled with such fun-inspiring events as a shoot-out on Main Street, an old-fashioned fiddler’s contest, kids’ carnival and the Big Hitch Parade. The Big Hitch Parade is the largest, non-motorized parade in the Pacific Northwest, featuring museum-quality wagons, antique buggies and stagecoaches from around the country. As mules “jump the chains” on the exciting turns, the massive ore wagons that once hauled metals to market bring the Old West to life once again.
