The Sun Valley Harvest Festival, a series of tastings, demonstrations, themed meals and marketplace, will showcase the bounty of the Sun Valley from Sept. 21-23.
The event kicks off with a restaurant walk through downtown Ketchum, Id., in which participating restaurants will offer samplings of fall dishes paired with their choice of beverage. The event continues with a schedule of demonstrations and presentations from guest chefs, sommeliers, television personalities and authors. Each one-hour demonstration is followed by a sampling of the chef’s presentation paired with wine.
This year’s speaker lineup includes James Beard Lifestyle nominees Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell and James Beard Foundation 2010 Best Chef of the Northwest, Jason Wilson. Also on Saturday is the Harvest Marketplace, a handpicked selection of vendors purveying organic, sustainable and hand-crafted foods, tea, dairy, coffee, produce, baked food and more. A nighttime event, the Martini & Caviar Party, features artisanal cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on a rooftop bar in downtown Ketchum.
Other events held through the festival include a River Guide Cooking Demonstration in how to cook gourmet food fireside or riverside and Harvest Dinners, in which participating restaurants will prepare their version of an Idaho Harvest dinner. Sunday’s culminating event, the Grand Tasting, will feature preparations made entirely with goods from Idaho and the Northwest and will offer guests the opportunity to meet with vendors from this area.
Individual event tickets are available starting at $35 for the Restaurant Walk. An All Event pass is available for $270.
