Known as “Nordic Town USA” for having the best Nordic skiing in the US, Sun Valley has a well deserved reputation for world-class alpine skiing. In fact, the skiing is so good, members of the Norwegian Olympic Nordic Team come to the valley to train. As a way to showcase “Nordic Town USA”, the newly formed Sun Valley Nordic Ski Alliance is hosting the first-ever Sun Valley Nordic Festival. The collaborative effort has been designed to focus attention global attention to the the fantastic skiing opportunities of the Sun Valley area.
The Sun Valley Nordic Festival, Jan. 30 through Feb. 7, 2010 will feature 9 days of activities, races, clinics and fun events culminating in the world famous Boulder Mountain Tour. There will be discounts on demos and rentals, lodging and dining, special free events as well as a $49 - 9 day all valley-wide ski trail pass.
The Boulder Mountain Tour
Year after year the Boulder Mountain Tour is considered one of the premier cross-country ski events in the United States. Drawing from across the country, and across the spectrum of abilities, the BMT is open to all skiers. This coming year will see a number of great additions that will add to the excitement and make the BMT the centerpiece of another fanstastic winter. For the first time, the BMT will host a “Half Boulder”. For those skiers new to the sport or just a little less than ready for the full distance, the 15 kilometer event will begin at Baker Creek and finish with the rest of the field at the SNRA Headquarters. The Half Boulder field will be limited for this trial effort so don’t wait to sign up.
