This year, the Sundance Resort’s Summer Theatre will present the Tony award winning musical, “Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” in partnership with Utah Valley University.
“Three years ago, the Sundance Resort brought back the eagerly awaited Sundance Summer Theatre. Each year since, the Summer Theatre has grown in popularity,” noted Chad Linebaugh, Sundance Resort’s general manager. “We are happy to continue our partnership with Utah Valley University to bring this new production to the outdoor stage for what promises to be another successful year. The story of Huck, Jim and Tom’s adventures along the mighty Mississippi is a classic. To see it told in such a spectacular setting makes it even more special.”
The production of will take place against the spectacular backdrop of Mount Timpanogos, which rises nearly 12,000 feet above sea level.
The play, directed by Emmy-nominated director Elizabeth Hansen, will debut on July 30 and have its final performance on Aug. 20. Between these dates, performances will be held each Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 8 p.m.
Group tickets ($16 per person) are on sale now via telephone and individual tickets ($20 per person) will be available online beginning May 1. Along with theater tickets, clients can purchase a pre-show barbecue dinner ($12.50 for group tickets, $15 for individual tickets).
