Long regarded as one of the most picturesque and charming travel destinations in the American Southwest, Taos, N.M., is inaugurating “Adventures de Taos,” a newly organized effort to introduce visitors to its unique cultural and scenic pleasures. This new program offers four genres of adventure for travelers who want to sample the variety of experiences available in the town.
Creative Adventures highlight Taos’ well-deserved reputation as a haven and fountainhead of the arts. These adventures are designed to introduce visitors to the town’s eclectic arts history and culture, whether they want to create or simply to appreciate.
Cultural Adventures emphasize the history and heritage of the area, including the 1000-year-old Taos Pueblo (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the St. Francis of Assisi Church, chosen by Yahoo as one of the top 10 places to visit before you die. These adventures also introduce visitors to the best of New Mexican cuisine.
Active Adventures take visitors outdoors to appreciate the scenery for which Taos is famous. Winter offers a range of snow activities and, in the warmer months, visitors can partake of river rafting, fly-fishing, mountain biking and more.
Playful Adventures range from llama hiking and horseback riding to touring microbreweries. These adventures encourage visitors to participate in the town’s active and leisurely varieties of fun.
