A new exhibit exploring the Ice Age, “Mammoths and Mastodons: Titans of the Ice Age,” will be on view at the Anchorage Museum starting March 4 and continuing through Oct. 9.
The exhibition, which was developed by the Field Museum in Chicago, explores the mammoth and mastodon’s interactions with one another and with ancient humans. Recreating the prehistoric world of the mammoths and mastodons, the exhibit also features life-size recreations of Ice Age animals, skeletons, skulls and tusks, walk-through dioramas, artifacts and hands-on activities.
Fit for adults as well as kids, the exhibition also highlights the scientific methods used to study these prehistoric beasts and investigates their connection to the modern-day elephant.
Tickets are $24 for adults, $21 for seniors, students or military professionals, $17 for children ages 3-12 and free for children ages 2 and under. Prices include museum general admission.
