This October the W San Francisco debuted newly renovated social spaces, designed by San Francisco interior designer and architect Stanley Saitowitz of Natoma Architects. The new designs, which include the Welcome Desk, Living Room, Living Room Bar and Upstairs Bar, are meant to capture the spirit of San Francisco while staying true to the aesthetics of W Hotels.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate another milestone for this hotel, as we introduce in-the-know locals and jetsetters alike to San Francisco’s most innovative and eclectic destination for eating, drinking and playing,” said Michael Pace, general manager.
The designs mirror the effects of the famous San Francisco fog that covers the city and blurs the distinctions between its various neighborhoods. The Welcome Desk features a three-dimensional map installation so that guests can orient themselves upon check-in while simultaneously becoming immersed in the hotel’s concept and design. In addition, the Living Room and Living Room Bar use the diffusion of natural light as a play on the way fog affects the city’s lights.
The renovation also introduces the W’s new signature restaurant, Trace. The restaurant focuses on high-quality and sustainable cuisine meant to encapsulate the local personality of the Bay Area. From Trace, guests can enter Upstairs, a bar and lounge where visitors can relax and enjoy the ambiance of the city.
