Montana National Guard award ceremony |
Whitefish Mountain Resort, in Whitefish, Mont., was recently honored by the Montana National Guard for the resort’s generous military discount program.
Since 2007, the military discounts have been significantly expanded to include 50 percent off lift tickets, free basic equipment rentals, 50 percent off group lessons, and 25-50 percent off on-mountain lodging for active-duty and retired members of the armed forces, as well as their spouses and dependents.
During the ceremony, CEO Dan Graves was presented with a letter and a commemorative coin in recognition of the one of the most generous military discounts in the ski industry.
“The military, the armed forces . . . those are the people that are the real heroes in the world. They don’t look for thank yous; sometimes, they get the opposite. They do it because they know they have to,” said Graves.
The ceremony was held on the patio of the Base Lodge where Lt. Colonel Boettcher read a letter from Brigadier General John E. Walsh:
“The efforts your resort team members make to welcome and host military families every year is very much appreciated. Support such as yours helps to ensure our National Guard families have exciting opportunities to enjoy some time together,” wrote General Walsh in the letter.
