The 1,230-room Hyatt Regency Waikiki is about to get a little sister. Parent company Hyatt Hotels Corp. will renovate the current Ocean Resort Hotel Waikiki and turn it into the 425-room Hyatt Place Waikiki. This will be Hawaii's first Hyatt Place, a brand which made its U.S. debut in 2006. The Hyatt Place brand caters to business travelers and families with lower price points and services such as a coffee and a wine bar, a 24-hour guest kitchen, free Wi-Fi and complimentary continental breakfast. The hotel's existing lobby, guestrooms and public spaces will be redesigned. Kokua Hospitality will manage the property, which is scheduled for rebranding in the fall of 2011.
