A new book based on Dame Traveler’s popular Instagram account (@dametraveler) is celebrating the solo female travel community. Featuring 200 photographs from women around the world, "Dame Traveler: Live the Spirit of Adventure," by Nastasia Yakoub, pairs the striking images with empowering, inspiring messages and practical tips for solo travelers.
The photography coffee table book, which showcases photos and messages from travelers such as backpackers in Peru, artists in Berlin and storytellers in Morocco (and even a few words by yours truly in the “Safety Tips” chapter), is organized into sections on architecture, culture, nature and water; each entry features travel information, tips, advice, unique solo-travel experiences and more.

The Instagram account that inspired the book was founded by Yakoub, who grew up in a strict Chaldean Middle Eastern community where women are expected to marry young and set aside personal ambitions. But after a transformative solo trip to South Africa, Yakoub found a love for exploring the world and created Dame Traveler, the first female travel community on Instagram, which now has nearly 600,000 followers.
The new book is currently available for preorder and will publish March 3.
