What
Pleasant Holidays and its luxury brand, Journese, today announced that they have partnered with CVS Health to help travel advisors provide COVID-19 testing options for clients traveling to Hawaii. As of Oct. 15, visitors to Hawaii who wish to avoid a mandatory 14-day quarantine must present evidence of a negative COVID-19 test.
Why It Matters
Pre-arrival COVID-19 testing can be a complicated and burdensome process for many travelers, but Pleasant Holidays and Journese are helping advisors add value for their clients by providing this option. The Traveler Support portals on Pleasant Holidays’ and Journese’s websites include dynamic links to CVS Health’s Voluntary COVID-19 testing page, along with destination travel restriction information worldwide. CVS Health can provide timely pre-travel COVID-19 testing results for travel to Hawaii — as well as to other destinations that currently have COVID-19-related restrictions in place. Advisors can share the CVS Health link with their clients, who can then schedule an appointment in advance for pre-travel testing at a nearby location.
CVS has more than 2,800 testing locations across the continental U.S.

- Hawaii’s testing requirements mandate that travelers are tested with an FDA-approved nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT), performed using a nasal swab, no earlier than 72 hours before the final leg of departure to the islands. The negative test result must be from a CLIA-certified laboratory. Travelers also will have their temperatures checked upon arrival and must fill out a travel and health form.
- Children age 4 years old and younger are not required to provide a pre-travel COVID-19 test when traveling with their parents.
- The Island of Hawaii is the only Hawaiian island currently requiring a secondary test. This rapid result antigen test, which provides results in 15-20 minutes, will be provided at all Hawaii Island airports at no cost to the traveler.
- Advisors should note that CVS Health does not test children younger than 12 years of age.
What They Are Saying
“As Hawaii begins to welcome visitors again, some confusion remains on protocols and where travelers can go to get pre-travel testing that meets the islands’ stringent requirements,” said Jack E. Richards, president and CEO of Pleasant Holidays. “CVS Health is one of the COVID-19 trusted testing partners approved by the state of Hawaii, has more than 2,800 testing locations across the continental U.S. and can provide test results typically within two to three days for a cost of $139 per person.”
