Westa to Launch New Training Program this Fall

Jul 19, 2014

What:
The Western Association of Travel Agents (Westa) is launching a new, two-day training and networking program for member agents in the fall.

Why It Matters:
Every agent can benefit from a training and/or networking function to sharpen his or her skills and make new connections, but this an especially good opportunity for young travel professionals. Recruiting new talent is key to keeping the industry alive, and that providing those recruits with the best possible support and training tools is key to keeping them in the industry. An in-depth training session like this one is a great way to build a young agent’s skill set and industry knowledge.

Fast Facts:
- The Westa Travel Professional Conference replaces Westa’s previous one-day program, with various dates and locations in the West.

- The dates and locations for the Westa training program are as follows:

Northern California: Oct. 25 and 26 in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Washington: Nov. 1 and 2 in Kirkland, Wash.

Southern California: Nov. 8 and 9 in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Oregon: Nov. 15 and 16 in Vancouver, Wash.

- The program will provide sales and education training and vendor presentations.

What They Are Saying:
“The new program essentially doubles the amount of time we previously allotted for training and education. It has the added benefit of bringing agents and vendors together earlier in the sales cycle, making it more relevant from both a sales and operational standpoint,” said Mike Estill, chief operating officer of Westa. “It’s advantageous for both.”
