If an added dose of adventure is in the cards this year, make sure these five tours or excursions — all of which are offered in 2018 from adventure tour operators and hotels — are on your radar.

Spot Wild Polar Bears in Canada
AdventureSmith Explorations’ Tundra Lodge Adventure will have clients coming face to face with polar bears in Churchill, Canada, known as the polar bear capital of the world. During the six- or seven-day tour, travelers will sleep in the Tundra Lodge, a custom rolling hotel. All-terrain Polar Rovers will be used on day trips, and guests will also participate in a dog-sledding excursion and listen to wildlife and cultural presentations. Departures will take place from mid-October to mid-November. The rate begins at $8,295 per person, based on double occupancy.

Stretch Out During a Rafting Trip in Utah
Holiday River Expeditions is offering several “journeys of personal discovery” for 2018, including the Wild Yoga Journey on the River with Rebecca Wildbear itinerary, which is a six-day, 84-mile rafting and yoga experience in Utah. During the trip, which takes place in June, clients will raft through Desolation Canyon on Utah’s Green River, traversing more than 60 whitewater rapids. They will stop to practice yoga and camp along the way. The tour will be led by Rebecca Wildbear, a wilderness guide and the creator of Wild Yoga. Clients must be at least 18 years old to attend this trip, and the rate for the six-day adventure begins at $1,200 per person.

Rock Climb in Telluride
Adventurous travelers staying at The Hotel Telluride in Telluride, Colo., can book the property’s new three-night Ropes & Rungs summer package. During their stay, guests will participate in a guided via ferrata climb on an exposed ladder and cable system as they explore the Ophir Valley’s vertical territory during a full day of guided rock climbing. The only via ferrata in Colorado, this protected climbing route was originally designed for World War I troops preparing to traverse the Alps, and consists of a series of fixed rungs, steps and ladders anchored to the rock face. Additionally, clients will be able to enhance or practice their rock climbing skills with time at Ophir Wall, which lies within Ophir Valley. The package is available from June 1 to Sept. 30 and begins at $1,999 per person, based on double occupancy.
