Majestic fjords and landscapes of ice form the backdrop for
INTRAV’s February 2007 Clipper Adventurer Antarctica & Falkland
Islands, and Chilean Fjords & Cape Horn voyages. On both
sailings, guests aboard the intimate 122-passenger vessel will
journey into the rugged inland waterways of Patagonia and beyond,
visiting some of earth’s last frontiers while enjoying the comfort,
safety and convenience of a luxury expedition ship.
Clipper Adventurer’s February 12 program begins with a pre-cruise
overnight in colonial Santiago, Chile, where passengers will enjoy
a city tour and visit to the summit of San Cristóbal. After a
charter flight to Ushuaia, Argentina, passengers embark on an
11-night voyage to the White Continent. During the voyage, the
vessel’s expert team of lecturers and naturalists will lead
discussions on the fauna, flora, geology and history of
Antarctica.
The 17-day journey will include: a call in the West Falkland
Islands, giving passengers the opportunity to see numerous species
of penguins; a cruise through the famous Cape Horn, or “Drake
Passage”; a sail around the South Shetland Islands and the
Antarctic Peninsula, across the Antarctic Sound, also known as
“Iceberg Alley” and several Zodiac cruises as weather permits. Upon
return to Ushuaia, guests fly charter air to Buenos Aires for two
post-cruise nights.
The Clipper Adventurer’s February 22 cruise to the Chilean Fjords
and Cape Horn begins with two days in Buenos Aires before a charter
flight to Ushuaia. Guests then embark for a 10-night cruise
navigating the fjords formed where the Andes plunge into
Patagonia’s icy seas. Highlights include the UNESCO World Heritage
Site Puerto Natales/Torres del Paine National Park; Ainsworth Bay
and the little port of Tucker Islet, and Isla Magdalena, home to
one of the largest colonies of Magellanic penguins in Chile. After
disembarking in Punta Arenas, passengers fly to Santiago for an
overnight and day of touring before returning home.
Guests booking either of these Clipper Adventurer expeditions by
December 15, 2006 receive $1,000 off INTRAV’s Business Class Air
Travel Upgrade.
