MSC Cruises has officially named the fourth ship in its World Class series. Following MSC World Europa, MSC World America and MSC World Asia will be MSC World Atlantic. The vessel is projected to sail in November 2027 from Port Canaveral, Florida, and embark on year-round, seven-night Caribbean circuits. This will mark the line’s second World Class vessel navigating North America.

Rather than being dubbed for Africa, Australia or Antarctica, the line revised the next ship’s nomenclature.

“World Class ships are named in honor of the world’s continents and oceans, not necessarily indicating where they will be deployed,” the line said. “The naming convention reflects the global nature of MSC Cruises, which sails to all parts of the world.”

Editor’s note: This story will be updated as more ship details are released. It was last updated on Dec. 17, 2025.

MSC World Atlantic is expected to follow the format of its predecessors, featuring multiple venues divided by distinct districts across 22 decks, and specific amenities and attractions are now starting to be revealed.

For example, MSC World America has 19 restaurants and 18 bars and lounges onboard, along with a three-deck World Galleria and the alfresco World Promenade, featuring one of the longest dry slides at sea. The Harbour showcases the unique cantilevered Cliffhanger swing ride, while the MSC Yacht Club continues the line’s signature ship-within-a-ship complex.

New to World Atlantic specifically will be Viva La Musica — one of the ship’s 30-plus bars, restaurants and lounges — dedicated to Latin culture with live music, dancing and nightlife. The Clubhouse will also debut as a retro-themed family entertainment venue filled with everything from classic table games to bumper cars, basketball, roller skating, a Lego Family Zone and more.

Environmental Friendliness

“Together, we continue to push boundaries by combining cutting-edge design, the latest technologies and a richness of experiences to set new standards in cruising and always striving to further improve the environmental performance of each ship,” said Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of the cruise division at MSC Group, when discussing the line’s partnership with shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique. “We look forward to raising the bar even higher with the upcoming MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic.”

The second ship in the series, MSC World America, touts the best energy efficiency design index from the International Maritime Organization, according to Laurent Castaing, general manager of the shipyard. He added that this distinction gives the ship the honor of having the lowest carbon footprint in the entire cruise industry.

Among the class’ capabilities are each ship’s use of liquefied natural gas fuel and shore power connectivity, allowing engines to be turned off while in port. Additionally, the ships are equipped with an advanced wastewater-treatment system and an extensive recycling management plant.

Itineraries

Promising to pair European style with American comfort, World Atlantic will begin sailing from Port Canaveral to the Caribbean — and most likely to the line’s own private island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas — for the winter 2027-2028 season.
