Silversea's Upcoming Silver Dawn Will Feature New Wellness Programing

When Silversea Cruises’ next ship, Silver Dawn, launches, it will feature brand-new spa programming dubbed Otium.

According to the luxury line, “In Roman culture, Otium — the opposite of negotium, the nonexistence of pleasure — was a period of time dedicated to leisure, in which people bathed, conversed, sung, theorized, drank, ate and relaxed.”

“Silversea has long excelled at enabling guests to ‘travel deeper in luxury,’” said Barbara Muckermann, chief commercial officer of Silversea, in a press release. “While the immersive aspect of our offering is easy to convey, the luxuriousness of our product can often seem intangible: guests really need to see it — to live it — to fully appreciate it. Otium is unlike any other wellness program; it aligns perfectly with our brand positioning and will weave a tapestry of unprecedented comfort around our guests. It will revolve around instant gratification, extending the luxurious pampering for which Silversea is famous to different areas of the ship, from guests’ suites to the redesigned spa area and beyond.”

Otium will consist of five elements, from the spa itself to guest suites that will further pamper passengers.

The Otium Experience

All suites onboard Silver Dawn will include Otium-inspired mattresses exclusive to Silversea, plus an expansion of the line’s signature pillow menu of down and feather blends, memory foam, firm down and down alternatives.

Guest bathrooms will once more feature both a walk-in shower and a bathtub. Butlers will be available to draw a multisensory soak complete with Otium bathrobes, exclusive bath salts, candles and a relaxing musical playlist, as well as caviar canapes, chocolate truffles, Champagne and more delicacies.

Depending on weather conditions, guests will be pampered on their private balconies with cashmere blankets, an appetizer selection and a hot chocolate menu in cold climates — or body mists, sun creams, cocktails and gourmet bites in warmer ones.

Silver Dawn’s dining will also be upgraded by Otium, with an in-suite comfort food menu available 24 hours a day. Selections will include lobster and caviar in brioche rolls and even gourmet popcorn, ideal for movie nights.

Last but not least, the spa and salon on Dawn will be enhanced for Otium with a special treatment menu and thermal areas showcasing Champagne and snacks including caviar and truffles.

Silver Dawn is scheduled to arrive in spring 2022.
