Two New Offerings From Viking Tours

Jan 16, 2008

Viking Tours has announced two new programs with departures beginning in September. The itineraries will highlight destinations in Italy as well as South America and along the Amazon, and are featured in the company’s new brochure.

“We are pleased with all aspects of our new programs, but it is our attention to the supreme quality of the accommodations that truly sets Viking Tours apart,” said Ted Sykes, president of Viking Tours. “Always striving to exceed our guests’ expectations, we are proud to be affiliated with some of the highest-rated and premium quality properties such as Rio’s world-famous Copacabana and the finest selection of Italy’s deluxe five-star hotels.”

The new 13-day Italian Lakes & Swiss Alps program takes guests on a journey through one of the world’s most romantic regions, visiting breathtaking landscapes in Italy’s famed lakes region. Highlights include Milan, Lake Garda, Verona, Lake Lugano, Lake Como, Zermatt (Matterhorn), Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta. The itinerary features top-quality accommodations with scenic lake views at Lake Lugano’s Hotel Splendide Royal and Lake Maggiore’s Regina Palace Hotel, as well as Milan’s five-star Hotel Principe de Savoia and balcony rooms with Matterhorn views at Zermatt’s Hotel National.

Other Viking Tours advantages include alpine train excursions and a number of cultural immersions highlighted by a viewing of da Vinci’s Last Supper and two home-hosted meals.

There are six scheduled departures in September and October 2008 with all-inclusive prices starting at $6,675. To complement the main itinerary, a four-night pre-tour extension tours Venice and Florence and a three-night post-tour extension visits Rome.

The Amazon Cruise & South America is a 14-day program highlighting various destinations in South America including Iguazu Falls and Rio de Janeiro as well as a seven-night cruise capturing the natural beauty and colorful wildlife along the Amazon River. This program features the region’s best accommodations including all suites at Rio’s world-famous Copacabana Hotel; all balcony staterooms aboard the five-star Iberostar Grand Amazon; and five-star accommodations with falls-view rooms in Iguazu.

Other tour highlights include small boat expeditions, piranha fishing and bird watching.

There are nine scheduled 2008 departures beginning in September with all-inclusive prices starting at $5,625. A six-night pre-tour extension visits Peru’s Lima, Cuzco and the wonder of Machu Picchu.

Viking Tours pricing includes all meals, guided tours, excursions and entry fees. Viking continues to offer their long-standing price guarantee: once booked and paid in full, travelers are safe from any increases in tour prices or airfares, additional fuel surcharges or currency fluctuations. Those guests who pay in full for their 2008 travels will benefit from a special savings totaling $500 per couple ($250 per person); this offer expires Feb. 28.
