Lanai, Hawaii’s smallest island destination, has stepped into the spotlight.
High-end clients will be particularly interested in these three updates from Lanai, home of upscale accommodations, health and wellness experiences and opportunities to explore the local landscape and culture.
Four Seasons Hotel Lanai at Koele: A Sensei Retreat
Following a total transformation, the former Lodge at Koele reopened Nov. 1 as Four Seasons Hotel Lanai at Koele, a Sensei Retreat.
Sensei refers to the well-being company founded by tech entrepreneur Larry Ellison — who owns 98% of Lanai — and Dr. David Agus, a pioneering health professional.
Located in Lanai City, the 96-room, adults-only oasis is Hawaii’s only true all-inclusive. Rates cover accommodations, spa and health-oriented programs, meals, drinks including alcoholic beverages, island activities and flights between Honolulu and Lanai.

Savvy staffers, called Sensei Guides, customize itineraries to focus on specific guest goals. Pastimes might include one-on-one training, cultural tours, body treatments or sports such as golf, hiking and ocean adventures. Menus crafted by chef Nobu Matsuhisa showcase island-harvested ingredients.
“Clients looking for a high level of wellness, hospitality and dining all in one location will find it here,” said Said Haykal, hotel manager for the resort. “We hope our guests learn something new about themselves and discover healthy practices that they can implement in their everyday lives.”

Lanai Adventure Park
Commanding a portion of the former Experience at Koele golf course, Lanai Adventure Park presents four separate elements. Its two-tiered adventure tower lures guests with more than 70 obstacles, while its zipline course lays claim to four aerial runs.
At its challenge course, skilled facilitators lead clients through physical endeavors designed to build confidence, trust, communication and collaboration. Meanwhile, a kids’ course tempts children ages 4 and up with a series of fun twists and turns, with safety gear ensuring a carefree outing.

Lanai Car Rental
With a diverse fleet of vehicles, this new option calls to clients who want to tour Lanai on their own.
Lanai Car Rental’s four-wheel-drive Jeep Wrangler Sahara is a great choice for people eager to see the island’s wonders, says Doug Stephenson, spokesman for the company. However, clients should avoid roads that are off-limits to vehicles.

“Renting a vehicle isn’t necessary when visiting Lanai, but it can provide travelers with flexibility and allow them to explore on their own schedule,” he said.
