BIG ISLAND

June 3: The Universe Tonight. A speaker from one of the Mauna Kea observatories shares information about Hawaii’s night sky as clients take part in stargazing. Onizuka Center for International Astronomy, on the road to the summit of Mauna Kea. 808-961-2180

June 8-12: Ke Kumu O Mauna Lani. Hawaiian spiritual masters and experts in health and wellness present lifestyle seminars, workshops and activities during this inspiring retreat. Clients can book room-and-event packages. Mauna Lani Resort. 800-367-2323

June 22-25: Dolphin Days. Benefiting Hawaii Shriners Hospital for Children and the Pacific Marine Life Foundation, this splashy event includes a silent auction, dolphin show, evening luau, golf tournament and the Great Waikoloa Food, Wine and Music Festival. Hilton Waikoloa Village. 800-445-8667

June 24-25: Kona Classic. Anglers reel them in during the 10th annual big-game fishing contest for prizes, the first qualifying event of the Maui Jim Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series. Clients can show up at the docks each afternoon for the weigh-in. Kona. 808-327-1440

June 24-25: Puuhonua O Honaunau Cultural Festival. The oceanfront National Historical Park provides a picturesque backdrop for Hawaiian arts and crafts, canoe rides, samples of traditional foods and an appearance by residents portraying the ancient Hawaiian Royal Court. South Kona. 808-328-2288

KAUAI

June 2 and 4: Slack-Key Guitar Concerts. Loosely tuned strings create a uniquely Hawaiian sound. On Fridays and Sundays, visitors can hear it firsthand at casual afternoon concerts, with proceeds supporting outreach programs. Hanalei Community Center. 808-826-1469

June 4, 11, 18 and 25: Wonder Walks. Guided hikes on various trails lead clients through some of Kauai’s prettiest forests. Outings along the Kaluapuhi and Berry Flats trails work well for families. Moderate hikers can try Halemanu Loop, while the Cliff and Canyon Trail hikes appeal most to clients in good condition. Call ahead to reserve a spot, since space is limited. June 17: King Kamehameha Floral Parade and Hoolaulea (Celebration). In honor of Hawaii’s first monarch, marching bands, decorated vehicles and glamorous horseback riders promenade down Rice Street to the County Building, where an outdoor party takes place with Hawaiian music, dance, arts, crafts and food. MAUI

June 7, 14, 21 and 28: Masters of Hawaiian Slack-Key Guitar. Performers Dennis Kamakahi, Ledward Kaapana, Bob Brozman, Daniel Ho and Richard Hoopii take turns on the stage during this weekly showcase of Hawaiian songs, hosted by slack-key guitar master George Kahumoku Jr. Indoor Amphi-

June 14-18: Maui Film Festival at Wailea. Movie buffs congregate on the Valley Isle to watch film premieres at the outdoor Celestial Cinema, intimate Castle Theater and other venues. In between flicks, they sample gourmet food and wine at Taste of Wailea, attend filmmakers’ panels and applaud the celebrities who fly in for the occasion. June 17: King Kamehameha Day. Lahaina’s celebration honors the 18th-century warrior who united the islands. A morning parade is followed by an awards ceremony and cultural crafts fair with Hawaiian music and hula. Banyan Tree Park. Lahaina. 888-310-1117

OAHU

June 2-4, 8-11 and 16-18: 50th State Fair. Locals love this annual event, where a midway bustles with games, food booths, rides, shows and kiosks selling carnival favorites and local specialties. Aloha Stadium, Honolulu. 808-682-5767

June 9-11: Pan-Pacific Festival Matsuri in Hawaii. In its 27th year, this event begins with a street party in Waikiki and continues through the weekend with hula dancers from Japan, Japanese crafts and foods and an outdoor concert. Honolulu. 808-926-8177

June 10: King Kamehameha Celebration. Oahu honors Hawaii’s famous monarch by draping his downtown statue in leis. Crowds line the streets to cheer for an annual parade, winding up with a festival in Waikiki’s Kapiolani Park. Honolulu. 808-586-0333

June 23-25: Taste of Honolulu. Easter Seals Hawaii presents the state’s largest outdoor food, wine and entertainment festival. Clients can buy scrip to sample treats from top Hawaii eateries, while experiencing activities, cooking demonstrations and non-stop local entertainment.
