Nov. 7-16: Kona Coffee Cultural Festival. Here’s a perky way to honor Hawaii Island’s prized agricultural product. Now in its 44th year, Hawaii’s oldest food fest features an array of energizing open-to-the-public events, including coffee cupping, a bean-picking contest, farm tours, a lantern parade and the Miss Kona Coffee and Miss Aloha Hawaii Scholarship pageants. KAUAI
Nov. 9: Hawaiian Slack-Key Guitar Festival, Kauai Style. For the 22nd time, this annual six-hour songfest features some of the state’s best practitioners of Hawaii’s distinctive slack-key guitar genre. While there, clients can browse booths with island crafts, community information, food, drinks, T-shirts and artist CDs. Admission is $10 per person at the door. MAUI
Nov. 14-16: Hula O Na Keiki. During this children’s solo hula competition hosted by Kaanapali Beach Hotel, young dancers showcase contemporary and ancient hula and chant. The goal is to teach children the traditions of their ancestors so they can carry the Hawaiian culture forward. The event’s arts and crafts, food booths and continuous performances appeal to lovers of all things Hawaiian.
