SPOTLIGHT: HAWAII ISLAND
09.14-17: Hawaii Island Festival of Birds. Nature fans flock to Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay for this annual celebration of Hawaii’s rare winged wonders. Birdwatching, guest speakers, a community fair, films, social gatherings and volunteer opportunities highlight the four-day event.

KAUAI 
09.2: Kauai Marathon. Featuring one of the world’s most beautiful marathon routes, the race begins and ends in Poipu and provides stunning views along the way. Beforehand, Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa hosts a fitness expo.

09.23-29: Kauai Mokihana Festival. This weeklong salute to island culture features a composers’ concert, a children’s music competition, a lei-making contest, a crafts fair, hula performances, storytelling events and more at various venues around the island.

MAUI 
09.7-21: Festivals of Aloha, Maui Nui Style. Each year, Maui honors its heritage with parades, live tunes and family activities. Clients can catch the action in several locations including Wailuku, Lahaina and Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center in Kahului.

09.30: Maui Ukulele Festival. During this free tribute to one of Hawaii’s most famous instruments, well-known artists take turns onstage as crowds relax on the Maui Arts and Cultural Center lawn. Door prizes and food booths add to the festivities.

OAHU 
09.22-29: Aloha Festivals. Oahu shows the love at the Waikiki Hoolaulea, a block party full of local eats and entertainment. The following week, a parade winds from Ala Moana to Kapiolani Park, complete with horseback riders festooned with island flowers.

09.30: Honolulu Century Ride. Bikers of all ages and skills take to the streets for Hawaii’s largest cycling event, with courses ranging from 9 to 75 miles. A post-ride party in Kapiolani Park rewards participants with refreshments and a hula show.
