For seven years, Segway of Hawaii has offered visitors a chance to explore Waikiki on two wheels. Now the company has made the jump to Hawaii Island (formerly called the Big Island), where travelers can explore the gardens and rain forests of Botanical World Adventures on an easy-to-use self-balancing personal transporter.
The new Segway expeditions enable guests to go deeper into and see more of the hundreds of acres of coastal rain forest, waterfalls and gardens of Botanical World Adventures. The attraction is located in Hakalau, north of Hilo along the Hamakua coastline.
“Over the years, we have received hundreds of requests from interested parties about Segway tours on the neighbor islands,” said Alan Rice, owner of Segway of Hawaii. “Our unique Segway tours offer visitors the chance to experience the transportation of tomorrow, today, while seeing and learning fun and interesting information about Hawaii.”
The new Segway off-road excursions at Botanical World Adventures are 30 minutes to three hours long with easy, moderate and challenging trails. Each route takes clients deep into the destination’s lush landscapes, areas that usually only hikers can explore.
Tours are led by Segway certified guides, most of whom have grown up in the area. Among them is Botanical World Adventures’ garden director Dr. Lanny Neel, a renowned botanist. All guides are knowledgeable about the history and culture of the region as well as the site’s many offerings.
“We believe these new Segway adventure tours are a great way to see the gardens, rain forest and waterfalls in a unique way,” said Mark Robinson, CFO for Botanical World, which has been open for 16 years. “This new adventure will bring our guests back to the gardens again and again.”
Botanical World Adventures operates seven days a week with tours offered throughout the day. Segway Adventure Tours are priced from $57 to $147 per person and can also be combined with the attraction’s seven-line Zip Isle Zipline Adventure, which opened two years ago.
For all outings, Segway training is included and helmets are provided.
