Presidio Hotel Group is breathing new life into the former Kauai
Coconut Beach Resort, as a $24 million-plus renovation and
rebranding project approaches completion.
Since purchasing the property in September 2003, the hotel owner
has undertaken a major rejuvenation project in order to reintroduce
the property as The Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Waipouli Beach.
Presidio will manage the property as part of a franchise agreement
with Marriott International.
Plans call for the renovation of all 311 guestrooms, public
spaces and meeting areas, as well the addition of a new restaurant,
lobby, pool deck and landscaping.
“We anticipate finishing our lobby area, pool area and
approximately two-thirds of our guestrooms by Christmas,” explained
general manager Glenn Okamoto. “We will then be able to start the
process with Marriott to rebrand as a Courtyard product. In the
interim, we’re offering some great deals to preview the huge
upgrades to the property during the final stages of
renovation.”
Until completion, the hotel is offering qualified travel agents
the first two nights free and extended stays at $99 per room per
night.
A preview of the near-completed renovation will provide agents
with an opportunity to relax in newly furnished guestrooms,
featuring rich color tones, hardwood furniture and ocean views.
Agents must provide an IATA number upon booking the reservation,
and proper identification and the IATA card upon check-in.
Also during this period, the hotel is providing guests a leisure
rate from $139 per room per night, commissionable to travel
agents.
Located on 10.5 oceanfront acres at Waipouli Beach in the heart
of Kauai’s historic Coconut Plantation, The Courtyard by Marriott
Kauai at Waipouli Beach will feature innovative dining at the
Voyager Grille, an award-winning Hawaiian luau by Tahati
Productions and nightly entertainment at Cook’s Landing Cocktail
Lounge. It is situated 10 minutes from Lihue Airport.
The hotel will cater to special occasions, family gatherings,
small business meetings and weddings. Nearly 9,300 square feet of
indoor/outdoor meeting space and amenities include a swimming pool,
