Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa Improves Suite Life

Jan 12, 2012

As demand increases for more spacious hotel accommodations, Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa has responded by completely renovating its 37 suites. Coming on the heels of a major guestroom revamp earlier in 2011, the suite renovation mirrors the south Kauai resort’s overall Hawaiian classic style while promising all the comforts of home.

“This was a great time to renovate our suites, since we see a greatly increased demand for suites seasonally,” said Grand Hyatt Kauai spokesperson Diann Hartman. “We get a lot of families traveling together for spring break, during the summer and over the holidays.”

Along with families, members of Hyatt’s Gold Passport program frequently book the hotel’s suites, Hartman added.

“Gold Passport members can use points to upgrade to suites, which we see a lot,” she said.

As an additional perk, the chain’s Diamond Gold Passport members receive four suite nights per year.

Measuring more than twice the size of a standard guest room, the renovated suites feature furnishings and design elements from land and sea. Hardwood floors, floral rugs and furniture with timeless, clean lines pay homage to the surroundings, while the decor echoes the multicultural influences of the island.

Garden, ocean and deluxe suites range from 1,000-1,800 square feet and feature a dining area with a granite top wet bar, living areas and a separate bedroom. The 2,400-square-foot presidential suites boast a full kitchen and dining room, a living room, an entertainment area with surround sound, two bathrooms and a separate bedroom. All suites feature large decks, a bath with a whirlpool tub, a walk-in rain shower and double marble sink vanities.

The standard guestroom renovation, completed in April 2011, reflects the roots of Hawaii’s plants, people and culture, including carved headboards portraying the native hapuu fern. Mahogany furniture adds earth tones while linens are inspired by traditional kapa cloth prints. Artwork pays homage to ancient petroglyphs found in sandstone next to the resort.

Standard rooms and suites alike have been designed to advance the resort’s conservation efforts. Adding to its list of environmental initiatives, the renovation included low-flow toilets, eco-friendly paints, recycled yarn carpet and energy-saving ceiling fans.

Clients who book a Grand Hyatt Kauai suite receive a long list of free amenities, including roundtrip airport transfers in a resort limo, valet parking, upgraded lei greeting, waived resort fee, guaranteed late check out, a personal escort to the suite, a welcome amenity, a nightly VIP turndown service and amenity, two daily garment pressings, access to the Grand Club and Anara Spa, use of a cabana, personal concierge, upgraded bath amenities, use of an iPod with Hawaiian music, age-specific toys and amenities for youngsters and children’s bath amenities with crib delivery.

For 2012, clients can experience one of Grand Hyatt Kauai’s renovated suites at a discount by booking a value-added package. Garden and ocean suite accommodations are available when booking the hotel’s Sunshine on Sale, Awaken and Amour promotions, among others.

“For people who really need some time to rejuvenate, a suite experience is a great way to go,” said Hartman. “With many seating options from sofas to chaises, guests can relax and enjoy the fantastic views that all the suites afford.”
