Romance makes everything better. And to help cupid while couples
are traveling, Hacienda Xcanatun is offering a three-night package
to the Yucatan that will sweep those in love right off their feet.
Couples can live together the fabled lifestyle of the former
wealthy land barons at the elegantly restored 18th century property
that’s nestled in acres of manicured jungle gardens and surrounded
by tall ochre-colored walls.
Set on the outskirts of Merida, the former sisal plantation is
among the loveliest hacienda boutique hotels in the Yucatan.
Unparallel hospitality, caring service and a respect for privacy
are considered among its trademarks. The estate also features two
fresh water swimming pools, an intimate spa and a landmark
award-winning gourmet restaurant.
Available year-round, Hacienda Xcanatun’s Unlock Romance Package
includes three nights in a deluxe suite with upgrade to a master
suite if available, daily breakfast, a couple’s Maya blessing,
visit to the ancient Maya city of Dzibilchaltun and a four course
feast with sparkling wine. Per couple rates are from $1,035 May 1
Sept. 30, 2008 and from $1,150 Oct. 1, 2008 April 30, 2009.
Deluxe suites are furnished with wood beamed ceilings, polished
marble and stone floors, hand-carved furnishings and antiques. The
oversized terrace includes a hydrotherapy tub sized for two and a
hand-woven hammock.
Xcanatun’s therapist, who was trained by her shaman grandfather,
provides the Couple’s Maya Blessing. It combines an organic honey
massage for two to purify the spirit, with a Limpia (Chakra and
Aura Cleansing) to unlock energy centers and encourage positive
energy to radiate throughout the body. At the end, each couple is
given a crystal amulet to ward off negativity.
To soak in the resort’s surroundings, couples take in the
majestic and solitary ancient Maya city of Dzibilchaltun (The Place
of Stone Writing), which lies five minutes from Hacienda Xcanatun.
Here, they can swim in its freshwater cenote, and then watch the
sun set behind the towering Temple of the Seven Dolls.
As for cuisine, a four-course feast accompanied by sparkling
wine proves the familiar adage that food is the key to a lover’s
heart. Each course highlights unusual and succulent ingredients,
herbs and spices celebrating Xcanatun’s version of fusion Yucatecan
cuisine. If this isn’t enough, they’ll enjoy the endorphins
unleashed by the handcrafted chocolates left in suite for
late-night snacking.
With a premium on privacy, Hacienda Xcanatun accommodates only
18 couples in 13 suites and five superior rooms. It is
privately-owned and managed by an entrepreneurial couple with
lifelong ties to the Yucatan and to the Maya. They have embraced
the Maya precept of seeking harmony with nature and the universe
not only in their spa and dining facilities, but also in the acres
of gardens containing native plants and flowers.
Hacienda Xcanatun is a member of Virtuoso and Mexico Boutique
Hotels. It enjoys a Four Diamond rating from AAA, and its landmark
restaurant, Casa de Piedra, has been awarded the Star Diamond Award
from the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences for the past six
years.
