Over the years, St. Regis Princeville Resort has played a prominent role in some of my favorite Kauai memories. My husband and I once shared a milestone anniversary dinner at its Kauai Grill, where floor-to-ceiling windows serve up dreamy views of the Napali Coast. Another time, I bonded with bosom buddies during a St. Regis wedding weekend that culminated in s’mores at the resort’s beachside bonfire.
That’s just what Valerie Iwasaki, director of leisure sales for the resort, likes to hear.

Recently, the 251-room north shore property debuted several initiatives to secure its status as the perfect host for significant celebrations. For couples getting married at the resort, it now offers a line of island-inspired bouquets, floral crowns and leis featuring hand-selected Hawaii blooms. It also presents the services of an exclusive wedding illustrator, who creates custom, on-site sketches for the betrothed.
In keeping with the romance theme, St. Regis Princeville has introduced intimate dining packages. In each case, a staff member greets a couple in the lobby, drapes them with leis and escorts them to an oceanside cabana for a private four-course meal. “The Elite Dinner” option includes wine pairings and a bottle of Dom Perignon, while “The Royal Dinner” comes with four bottles of bubbly. The guests can take unconsumed bottles back to their room to enjoy throughout their stay, along with a parting gift and a framed photograph.
Iwasaki describes the hotel’s clientele as guests in their 30s and 40s who are successful and “people who have the ability and freedom to explore the world.”
The property answers their call for authentic activities through a variety of distinctive programs, many of which are complimentary.
Case in point: the hotel’s champagne sabering demonstration, a nightly ritual at sunset complete with a toast. For cocktail lovers, the in-house mixologist stands ready to share the history of the Bloody Mary and the recipe for the hotel’s signature Aloha Mary. Come evening, guests can gather to stargaze while learning about ancient Polynesian wayfinding.
As St. Regis Princeville strives to stay relevant with upwardly mobile travelers, it’s keeping in step with their evolving needs and passions. For instance, in response to visitors’ growing interest in local culture, its 10,000-square-foot Halelea Spa offers numerous treatments inspired by native Hawaiian healing practices and ingredients. The Waialeale Body Masque uses Kauai clay infused with ginger, turmeric, organic aloe, noni, kava and algae. It ends with a massage channeling the heady scent of the indigenous maile vine.
Meanwhile, the resort is updating old traditions. Consider the long-standing butler service, available to guests of the property’s 51 suites. Starting this year, clients can reach their butler via text or email.
As St. Regis Princeville refines its guest amenities and activities, one thing hasn’t changed: its commanding cliffside setting above Hanalei Bay. When clients enter the lobby, with its unobstructed views of the mountain nicknamed “Bali Hai,” they know they’ve come to the right place on Kauai.
