Hotels Dress Up Romance Packages for Couples

For honeymoons, anniversaries, vow renewals or just quiet getaways, hoteliers across the Big Island stand ready with packages to encourage romance travel this year.

" King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel greets couples with leis, champagne, tropical fruit and chocolate truffles. It sprinkles orchid petals in their bath, provides them with daily breakfast and one dinner. The three-night package starts at $999. Call 800-367-2111.

" Royal Kona Resort’s three-night package provides couples with leis, champagne, chocolates and a convertible rental car, plus tickets to a luau dinner show and a sunset dinner cruise. Daily breakfast is included in the package, priced at $691. Call 800-774-5662.

" Four Seasons Resort Hualalai’s three-night romance package treats couples to his-and-hers robes, champagne, a Hawaiian music CD and choice of daily breakfast or a rental car. Rates start at $1,885. A more elaborate package includes leis, a keepsake, a dinner for two on the beach and a couple’s massage starts at $2,645. Call 888-340-5662.

" Kona Village Resort’s three-, five- and seven-night romance packages range from $1,440 to $5,975. Couples booking the package receive champagne and a line-art drawing of their honeymoon hale (cottage). Call 800-367-5290.

" At Hilton Waikoloa Village, a three-night romance package provides a welcome amenity, yukata robes and a seaside cabana massage for two. Couples get one dinner at either Kamuela Provision Co. or Donatoni’s, both on-property, including daily breakfast. A catamaran cruise completes the package, which starts at $1,857. Call 800-HILTONS.

" Mauna Kea Resort, home of Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, offers couples roundtrip airport transportation, champagne and flowers, a candlelit dinner and daily breakfast. With a three-night minimum, the package starts at $499 per night. Call 800-882-6060.

" Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows lists a Romantic Interludes package featuring champagne, chocolate-dipped strawberries, a rose-petal turndown on the first night and a candlelit dinner for two. Couples receive picnic baskets, Hawaiian keepsakes and daily breakfast. Rates start at $1,950 per couple with a three-night minimum. Call 800-367-2323.

" Mauna Lani Point provides condominium accommodations to couples booking its five-night romance package. Rates priced from $2,323 include use of a convertible rental car, champagne, a welcome basket, a massage for two, VIP concierge service and admission to a luau. Call 800-642-6284.

" Couples booking The Orchid at Mauna Lani’s Luxury Collection Romance package get daily breakfast, a floral arrangement and a bottle of champagne. Rates for the two-night program start at $1,000 per couple. Call 800-845-9905.

" Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Resort’s three-night program provides champagne and chocolates, breakfast each morning and a daily sunset oceanside massage for two. Rates start at $1,560 per couple. Call 800-922-5533.

" Cook’s Discoveries, a bed and breakfast in upcountry Waimea, offers couples a koa wood-framed marriage prayer written in English and Hawaiian. In the evening, guests get a bedtime snack of milk and cookies. Rates are $135 per night with a three-night minimum. Call 808-937-2833.
