Talk about sweet music to the ears! Karmina Palace’s “Soulful
Sounds” series unites the musical talents of up-and-coming
entertainers from across Canada and the United States in the balmy,
tropical atmosphere of Manzanillo.
The sultry sounds of Toronto jazz trumpeter Danny DePoe
(www.dannydepoe.com) have returned to the property for a second
year in a row. This year, DePoe oversees an eclectic and acclaimed
group of rising stars who provide nightly jazz, acoustic, soft rock
and folk music entertainment in two-week slots until April 2006 at
the all-suite, all-inclusive property.
Karmina Palace provides the ideal venue to showcase their talents
in three outdoor settings. Crooners will serenade guests at the
intimate Trattoria bistro, the open-air Carioca dining room
overlooking the bay and the air-conditioned lobby bar.
“Soulful Sounds” series guest artists include Toronto folk/rock
guitarist with jazz influences Peter Katz (www.peterkatz.com),
Vancouver-based acoustic guitarist and singer Marnie Mains
(www.marniemains.com), folk/rock guitarist Adrianne Gonzalez
(www.adrimusic.com) of Los Angeles, Toronto folk/rock guitarist
Dylan Murray (www.dylanmurray.net) and native jazz vocalist Hazel
Walker (www.hazelsings.com) from Nova Scotia who pairs with Toronto
pianist Graham Howes (www.grahamhowes.com).
The 324-suite Karmina Palace Resort has polished the all-inclusive
concept by offering special complimentary amenities like high speed
wireless internet access, eight interconnected lagoon-style pools,
nightly entertainment, 24-hour room service, a full-service spa and
unlimited food and drink.
Several airlines are adding nonstop service to Manzanillo during
the winter season. Alaska Airlines resumed five direct flights
weekly from Los Angeles in November, while Aerocalifornia also
flies twice weekly from Los Angeles. Beginning Dec. 17, America
West Airlines will launch nonstop service from Phoenix.
