As Kona Village continues to rebuild on Hawaii Island, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been selected to manage the oceanfront property.
The distinctive hotel, which debuted in 1965 and closed in 2011 due to damage from tsunami, is now targeting a 2022 reopening.
New details are emerging about the renovated Kona Village, which will feature 150 standalone guest hales, each with an outdoor shower and a private lanai.
The popular Shipwreck Bar will be back, while new amenities will include a spa, a fitness center, pools and tennis courts.
The destination’s rich heritage will remain a driving force behind Kona Village’s activities, with a new cultural center offering immersive guest programs.
