Marriott continues its focus on Hawaii with ambitious plans to
renovate two neighbor island resorts. The Wailea Marriott Resort on
Maui and the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort on Hawaii’s Big Island
will be transformed in two separate multi-million dollar
renovations. The first phase covers room renovations, with other
phases to follow later this year.
“We’re excited about the two projects,” said Stan Brown, vice
president of Pacific Islands and Japan, Marriott International, who
has overseen the successful rebranding and conversion of seven
Hawaii properties from luxury to mid-tier accommodations. “So far,
we have focused our resources into elevating the standards of guest
services and amenities at Wailea and Waikoloa. And we are now
poised to bring these two fine oceanfront resorts to another level
of luxury.”
Brown pointed out that the upgrade program will not impact the
guest experience.
“I am confident that Dennis Wagner and Nihad Kattan, general
managers at Wailea Marriott Resort and Waikoloa Beach Marriott
Resort, respectively, will ensure smooth day-to-day hotel
operations during the different phases of the renovation projects,”
Brown explained.
Taking it a step further, both properties will offer special
room rates to assist in offsetting potential disturbances.
“We plan on sharing with our guests several great ways in which
to explore the island of Maui or Hawaii’s Big Island during the day
so as to avoid potential renovation work, and then welcome them
back home in the afternoon to enjoy surprise activities, food and
beverage specials, and our famous Hawaiian sunsets,” said Peter C.
Thoene., director of sales and marketing at the two resorts.
In June, the 521-room the Wailea Marriott Resort will launch a
hard and soft goods renovation and redesigning of each guest room.
During the year long renovation, the nightly leisure rates are from
$269 per room.
Work on the hard and soft goods renovation of the 545 guestrooms
at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort began in April. The renovation is
targeting a December completion. During the process nightly leisure
rates are from $169 per room.
“The enhancements planned for each resort hotel will no doubt
encourage our guests to return to not only see but experience all
that’s new,” Thoene added. “It promises to be quite extraordinary
in scope from all guest rooms, public areas, new restaurants and
pools. We are definitely poised to bring these two fine oceanfront
resorts to another level of luxury.”
