When it comes to courting the luxury market, Maui is a master.
“Brands on Maui, such as Four Seasons, Andaz, Montage and Ritz-Carlton, continue to set the bar for the entire state,” says Terryl Vencl, executive director for Maui Visitors Bureau.
To maintain their luster with cosmopolitan clients, Maui’s posh accommodations are constantly introducing innovative, premium amenities. Here are a few of the current resort lures that keep luxury in mind.
Cliff House Memories at Montage Kapalua Bay
Montage Kapalua Bay’s Cliff House, a dramatic seaside structure, is now available for special-occasion gatherings. With the new Cliff House Memories package, clients can enjoy the two-level perch for five hours, including lunch or dinner. Perfect for everything from weddings and rehearsal dinners to corporate events, it boasts floor-to-ceiling windows, a full kitchen, a large-screen television, snorkel gear and shower facilities.
Exclusive Dining at The Fairmont Kea Lani Villas
If staying in a Fairmont Kea Lani villa isn’t luxurious enough, guests can enhance their visit with a customized outdoor dinner prepared by a personal chef. Clients work directly with a resort culinarian to develop a singular barbecue menu. Options run the gamut, from hamburgers and hot dogs or steak and lobster to luau-style fare or a meal spotlighting fresh Maui-grown ingredients. Dinner is crafted and served in the privacy of a guest’s villa terrace, complete with its own plunge pool.
High-End Shopping on Lanai
Who’d have thought travelers could buy high-profile fashions by the likes of Jimmy Choo and Diane Von Furstenberg on Lanai, Maui’s laid-back sister island? Such is the case at Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay, which recently debuted a collection of distinctive luxury boutiques with a range of lines from around the world. The new shops, located off the hotel’s lobby, also feature well-known brands like Missoni, Pucci, Kimberly McDonald and Eres.
Porsche Rentals From Makena Resort
Guests of Makena Beach & Golf Resort can sightsee in style in a professional reproduction of the 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster. The hotel has partnered with Maui Roadster to offer rentals of the classic car, which is enhanced by modern touches such as a CD player and USB ports. For an extra cost, clients can order picnic baskets with gourmet sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit and sweets.
Top-of-the-Line Suites at Four Seasons Maui at Wailea
When ordinary suites won’t do, visitors can book one of Four Seasons Resort Maui’s three-bedroom, presidential-style digs — Hawaii’s largest resort suites. Fresh from a major renovation, the 4,750-square-foot Maile suite boasts panoramic ocean views. The new 4,500-square-foot Lokelani suite has additional living space outside highlighted by two fire-pit lounges. Guests staying in one of these rooms also enjoy complimentary indulgences such as daily breakfast, an in-suite dinner, laundry service, round-trip transportation and a private assistant.
VIP Cabanas at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua
A paramount poolside experience awaits at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, home of seven lavish cabana suites. Each holds up to eight guests and comes with a private attendant and perks such as a tropical fruit platter, seasonal snacks, cold towels, soft drinks and wine. Other amenities include a flat-screen television, a choice of magazines and newspapers, an iPod/iPhone docking station and a refrigerator.
