Napili Kai Beach Resort Touts 50 Years With Free-Trip Contest

Sep 10, 2010
By In 1960, a group of Canadian and American investors founded Napili Kai Beach Club on 10 oceanfront acres by Napili Bay. Today, the northwest Maui property, renamed Napili Kai Beach Resort, is marking its 50th anniversary with an online contest to win a free week-long trip for two to the Valley Isle.

With an entry deadline of Dec. 31, the resort’s 50th anniversary contest culminates in a random drawing. The winner gets a seven-night trip for two, including roundtrip air transportation from any continental U.S. airport serviced by Hawaiian Airlines. Also included in the prize are oceanview studio accommodations at Napili Kai, welcome leis, a seven-day car rental, a private oceanfront dinner at the resort, two roundtrip ferry tickets to the island of Lanai, two tickets to the Grammy Award-winning slack-key guitar concert series at Napili Kai and a CD of slack-key guitar music.

The Napili Kai Experience
Napili Kai is a full-service resort made up of 163 hotel rooms, studios and one- and two-bedroom suites in 11 low-rise, plantation-style buildings. Studios and suites include kitchen facilities (hotel rooms do not have kitchens). Other amenities include four swimming pools, a large whirlpool spa, two putting greens (one for children, one for adults), shuffleboard courts, fitness room, boutique day spa and guest barbecue facilities. Golf and tennis are available nearby.

Promising not to nickel-and-dime its guests, Napili Kai has no hidden charges or daily resort fees. Parking is complimentary, as is in-room, high-speed Internet service. Guests get such complimentary services and activities as daily morning coffee in the lobby, mid-morning coffee in the beach cabana, mid-afternoon tea and coffee in the lobby, use of the fitness facility, putters for the resort’s two greens, beach towels, beach chairs and mats, swim masks and snorkels and weekly adult putting and poolside mai tai parties. Napili Kai also offers a complimentary children’s program for families visiting during Easter, mid-June to late-August, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.

Travel Agent Incentives
Travel agents can benefit from Napili Kai’s anniversary celebration thanks to a year-long rewards program. During its anniversary year — from Sept. 15 to Sept. 15, 2011 — agents who accrue bookings of 50 paid room nights during Value Season get a 10-night free stay at Napili Kai, daily breakfast for two each morning and one dinner for two in the resort’s oceanfront Sea House restaurant. Value Season dates in 2010 are Aug. 21-Dec. 17. In 2011, Value Season runs from Jan. 5-28, March 5-April 15, April 30-June 17 and Aug. 21-Dec.16. Bookings, which can be made directly with Napili Kai or through the agent’s preferred tour operator, are credited to the agent once the stay has taken place and been verified. To participate in the program, agents must register in the travel agent section provided on the resort’s website.

Napili Kai’s website offers a number of interactive tools to help agents familiarize themselves with the property and sell it to clients. The site includes a live Web cam of Napili Bay showing weather and surf conditions, an eight-minute video of the resort and a photo gallery depicting various aspects of the Napili Kai experience.

The website also includes a separate booking page designed for travel agents, who can log in with an IATA or CLIA number, check availability for specific dates and obtain rates and book reservations online for their clients.

Fall Specials
Currently, Napili Kai is encouraging bookings by running on-line special offers for fall travel. Among the offers are 50 percent off one-bedroom oceanfront suites, reimbursement of airline baggage fees and fifth-, sixth- and seventh-night free packages.
