Castle & Cooke Resorts has signed management agreements with
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to oversee the Manele Bay Hotel and
The Lodge at Koele on Lanai.
Currently undergoing a more than $40 million improvement program in
anticipation of the management change, Manele Bay Hotel will be
re-branded as the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay. Slated
for a mid-September completion, the initial renovation phase
includes upgrading all guestrooms, and the pool bar and grill. In
addition, the property will construct a new fitness center and
seven new suites including a 3,200-square-foot Presidential
Suite.
The Lodge at Koele will undergo a similar renovation to its
guestrooms during 2006. Both Lanai properties will join the
Toronto-based company’s two other award-winning hotels in Hawaii
Four Seasons Resort Maui and Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the
Big Island. Castle & Cooke will retain ownership of the hotels,
and will continue to own and operate the two championship golf
courses and all of the non-resort operations on Lanai.
“I am pleased to partner with the world’s most prestigious hotel
group, a favorite of mine along with other discerning world
travelers,” said David H. Murdock, owner, chairman and CEO of
Castle & Cooke. “My vision for Lanai is to offer the very best
quality, and I am unwavering in that commitment as this agreement
demonstrates. We welcome the Four Seasons brand to Lanai with aloha
and great anticipation.”
Surrounded by lavish gardens, the 236-room Manele Bay Hotel sits
high above the white-sand beach of Hulopoe Bay. Red lava cliffs and
rock formations provide a dramatic contrast to the blue-green
waters of the ocean below. The award-winning Jack Nicklaus-designed
Challenge at Manele golf course lies adjacent to the hotel.
Perched at an elevation of 1,600 feet among decades-old towering
Cook Island Pines, the 102-room Lodge at Koele is reminiscent of a
fine country estate. The Greg Norman-designed Experience at Koele
golf course provides a combination of upland terrain, inspired
landscape architecture and a range of play challenges.
“We are excited about the opportunity to broaden our Hawaii
portfolio of luxury resorts,” remarked Isadore Sharp, chairman and
CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “These two resorts,
combined with Four Seasons’ resorts in Maui and the Big Island,
will give luxury travelers the world over even more of a reason to
seek out the serenity, natural beauty and recreational pastimes
available in Hawaii.”
