Occidental Hotels & Resorts is expanding its upscale Occidental
Grand resort brand on Mexico’s Pacific Coast by renovating the Allegro
Nuevo Vallarta. The Allegro closed last November to begin a $15 million
renovation and complete rebranding of the resort. The property will
reopen as the all-inclusive 266-room Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta in
July 2011. The resort is located in the up-and-coming Riviera Nayarit
region.
Occidental Hotels & Resorts anticipates that more than half of the
rebranded resort’s business will come from the U.S. market. Occidental
Grand Nuevo Vallarta will be the sixth Occidental Grand property in the
hotel collection, joining two others in Mexico, Occidental Grand Xcaret
and Occidental Grand Cozumel.
“The Occidental Grand properties are extremely popular,” said Richard
Kirby, senior vice president of sales and marketing of Occidental Hotels
& Resorts. “Our guests know that they can count on a high level of
service when they stay with us, no matter where, and the Riviera Nayarit
is an ideal location for an Occidental Grand property — easily
accessible with a spectacular beach and endless activities.”
The Occidental property will differ from the previous Allegro property
in a number of ways. As a four-star resort, Occidental Grand Nuevo
Vallarta aims to offer improved levels of service to its guests. There
will also be major physical enhancements throughout the resort.
Renovation highlights include three new restaurants and additional
meeting spaces.
The three new restaurants are Le Buffet, offering international
buffet-style dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Los Olivos, serving
Italian cuisine and Mediterranean-style a la carte dinners by
reservation; and La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, providing authentic
Mexican specialties by reservation.
Upon reopening, the Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta will offer
multifunctional conference facilities that can host up to 250 people.
The Grand Nuevo Vallarta’s location and offerings, such as executive
suites and Wi-Fi access in the meeting rooms, make it a good fit for
corporate functions.
Rounding out the renovations are an additional pool and swim-up bar, a
Kid’s Theater and the inclusion of its Royal Club product, which
encompasses a boutique, five-star hotel located within the resort
grounds. Royal Club accommodations provide personalized services and VIP
amenities including suites with extra space, a personal concierge,
private check-in and check-out services, hydro-massage bathtubs,
high-end linens and pillows, Etro toiletries, evening turndown service,
fruit baskets and plush bath robes.
Occidental Grand vacations include unlimited meals and snacks,
free-flowing drinks and access to the fitness center. Activities, such
as kayaking, pool volleyball, water aerobics and water polo, are also
included in the all-inclusive price. Other all-inclusive features
consist of a weekly manager’s cocktail party, daily Spanish language
lessons, snorkeling, sailing, windsurfing and one lighted tennis court. A
supervised kids’ club and daily entertainment are also part of the
package, as well as nightly shows, live entertainment and all taxes and
gratuities.
The Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta is located 25 minutes north of the
Puerto Vallarta’s international airport and 35 minutes from downtown
Puerto Vallarta by car. The city provides plenty of shopping and dining
experiences, and is also a good jumping-off point for sportfishing
charters.
