The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach has recently completed an
extensive renovation, including the addition of amenities and
services focusing on business travelers and small meetings.
Representing a complete makeover of Outrigger Hotels &
Resorts’ flagship Waikiki property, the two-year, $20 million
project encompassed improvements to 495 guestrooms, 30 oceanfront
suites, the 18,000-square-foot lobby and all public corridors
touches that appeal to leisure travelers as well.
According to Roy Cordeiro, director of sales and marketing for
the beachfront hotel, the changes have created a more user-friendly
environment, especially for corporate business.
“This renovation has made the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach an
exceptional venue for business travelers and small corporate
groups,” remarked Cordeiro.
These “roof to sand” enhancements cover everything from the
top-floor guestrooms to the lobby that sits directly on Waikiki
Beach. Changes include:
New 700-square-foot executive boardroom fully wired for Internet
connectivity and state-of-the-art audio-visual presentations.
New 600-square-foot self-service/24-hour business center,
equipped with computers, printers, copy machines and Internet
access.
New restaurant, Hula Grill Waikiki, located oceanfront on the
upper lobby level overlooking Waikiki Beach.
New lobby exhibit showcasing rare and historic Hawaiian
artifacts, a century-old koa canoe, Polynesian voyaging chart and
wall murals all part of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach’s
ongoing commitment to preserving and sharing Hawaiian culture.
New sit-down check-in desk designed specifically to cater to
arriving, travel-weary guests.
Complete refurbishment of guest rooms, suites, public corridors
and two meeting rooms, including new carpeting, wall covers,
fabrics, fixtures, furnishings and artwork.
“The guestrooms and suites are beautifully done, our meeting
facilities are perfectly suited for executive retreats or regional
sales meetings, we have three restaurants and a coffee bar on
property and dozens more within a few blocks, and we are one of
only a few hotels located directly on Waikiki Beach,” Cordeiro
added. “It’s easy to do business here, while at the same time relax
and enjoy the experience.”
“With the completion of this renovation, we’re seeing new
customers in the corporate business travel market,” agreed Barrett
De Santos, senior sales manager. “I’m happy we’re able to be in
this new arena. It’s promising for us.” De Santos said that he’s
especially pleased with new bookings by universities coming to
Hawaii for “East meets West” meetings.
“Our Nakoa Boardroom has 12 data-ports and 12 leather chairs,”
De Santos said. “We can connect up to four countries at a time.
It’s a ‘touch the world’ situation.”
The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is also home to Duke’s Canoe
Club restaurant and cabaret performers, the Society of Seven. The
hotel is recognized for its preservation and sharing of Hawaiian
culture through educational and entertaining guest activities.
