Everyone knows that the effects of even the most rejuvenating vacation can be wiped out in seconds at the airport. The Doheny Suite Experience at Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills extends the hotel’s superior service to clients when they need it most: directly before and after takeoff and landing.
When I arrived at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), I found Alma Cruz — a representative contracted by the hotel — already waiting for me at my gate.
Though I was coming in from a domestic flight — a requirement for this package — it was the final leg in a stretch of travel that began 20 hours prior in Scotland. In my sleep-deprived state, I was nearly brought to tears when Cruz offered to carry my backpack and purchase snacks on my behalf.
After escorting me to a black car that had been waiting directly outside my terminal, Cruz disappeared momentarily to retrieve my suitcase, and then my driver and I were off.
We skipped the freeway for a drive up La Cienega Boulevard in the direction of the breezy, palm-tree lined streets of Beverly Hills. We stopped once we spotted Marilyn Monroe — a statue replica of her, that is — at the hotel’s porte cochere.
At check-in, the on-duty manager greeted me with a big smile and a knowing look in his eyes; my travel weariness had come to the right place, he said.
In addition to the meet-and-greet at the plane, the Doheny Suite package includes accommodations at one of the hotel’s newly renovated top suites, which range from Luxury Suites to Presidential Suites.
The Doheny Suite Experience begins at $2,250 per night.
Credit: 2019 Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly HillsAs soon as I arrived in my Luxury Suite King room, I spotted — and inhaled — an assortment of fresh strawberries and dragon fruit hanging from a clothesline. Many more snacks awaited me in the complimentary minibar, including Hu chocolate, my all-time favorite gourmet brand. The package also features fresh floral arrangements by Jeff Leatham, personalized stationery and embroidered slippers, parking, pressing and premium Wi-Fi access.
From the wraparound balcony of my two-room suite, I spotted the pool at which I would spend much of my stay and receive complimentary icy treats and healthful eats via Folia, a vegan menu created by chef Matthew Kinney in collaboration with the poolside Cabana Restaurant.
With its free late checkout and roundtrip airport service, the package is geared toward clients visiting Los Angeles for business or pleasure, but there is perhaps no greater luxury — or cure for jet lag — than receiving the treatment before driving home. The rate for the Doheny Suite Experience begins at $2,250 per night.
