Park Hyatt Opens Property on Hainan Island

Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort, located on Hainan Island in China, officially welcomed its first guests in early February, providing travelers with high-end beachfront accommodations in the country’s tropical and southernmost province. Hainan Island is about a 90-minute flight from Hong Kong.

The 207-room property, including 26 suites and 17 villas, sits on the southernmost tip of Hainan Island and offers travelers the exclusivity of private access to a white-sand beach and warm, clear tropical water. At the same time, Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay Resort is only a 3-mile drive from the island’s most popular tourist attraction, Yalong Bay.

“If U.S. travelers are looking to include a taste of tropical China during their China vacation experience, Sanya provides beautiful scenery and beaches and some of Asia’s best golf courses,” said Nicolas Lacey, general manager for the resort.

According to Lacey, 90 percent of the property’s guestrooms and suites feature ocean views, and the nearly 700-square-foot standard units offer all of the amenities travelers would expect from a Park Hyatt.

“Our guestrooms are generous in size and feature a stone soaking tub, a rain shower, a double vanity, an oversize king-size bed and Le Labo grooming products,” Lacey said. “The design of the rooms is very residential in style and includes a number of Chinese and Hainanese touches.”

The Park Hyatt brand’s fifth property in China, the new Sanya Sunny Bay Resort is home to seven dining and drinking venues, serving a range of both Chinese and Western cuisine and featuring a number of oceanview dining options.

Meanwhile, construction of the property’s spa — which will be built in a traditional Chinese style and will offer guests eight private treatment villas surrounding an open-air courtyard — is expected to be completed later this year.

Travelers can also take advantage of a range of activity options during a stay at the Park Hyatt Sanya Sunny Bay, including time in five separate pools on property, tours of popular nearby visitor attractions (Butterfly Valley, Nanshan Temple and Yazhou Ancient City, to name a few), along with kayaking and snorkeling in nearby Baifu Bay.
