Built on the former entrance to the Ainahau Estate, once home to
Hawaii’s most beloved princess, the 1,152-room Sheraton Princess
Kaiulani hotel is celebrating 50 years of welcoming visitors to
Waikiki.
Festivities through the end of the year will range from special
room packages, historical displays in the lobby and commemorative
aloha shirts to dinner packages and ongoing entertainment.
The hotel’s 50th Anniversary Room Package includes a fourth
night rate of $50, commemorative historical Princess Kaiulani book,
50th Anniversary keepsake gift and “Creation A Polynesian Journey”
dinner show for two. The themed package is offered for rack rate
bookings in the partial ocean view category and above. Nightly
rates are from $315, based on double occupancy.
On June 11, the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani will celebrate its
anniversary in style. Open to the public, festivities will include
a time capsule ceremony, cake cutting and an Aloha Festivals Court
appearance.
“The hotel’s opening day was deliberately chosen for Kamehameha
Day in honor of the king,” explained Fred Orr, managing director
for the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. “Our festivities on June 11
will include a re-creation of the opening day program with a
procession by the Aloha Festivals Royal Court. We want to share the
dignified and gracious spirit of the hotel and our employees with
Hawaii’s visitors and kamaaina.”

Each year, the hotel also honors the legacy of Princess Kaiulani
with a week of cultural activities held to celebrate her birthday

nightly Hawaiian music and poolside performances, and a traditional
royal procession portraying King David Kalakaua, Queen
