Relax in Paradise at Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas

The remote South Pacific paradise of Rarotonga, the largest of the Cook Islands, is home to a new accommodation option for travelers, providing a high-end getaway outfitted with many of the comforts of home.

Welcoming its first guests in March 2015, the oceanfront Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas is located right next to Muri Beach, one of Rarotonga’s most popular attractions, and features four two-story, two-bedroom luxury units. All of the villas open onto an infinity pool that flows out toward Muri Lagoon, and each spacious unit is equipped with a full modern kitchen, a 60-inch satellite television, Wi-Fi access and two en suite bathrooms in the upstairs bedrooms.

“If guests want all the benefits of a luxury resort but prefer a more secluded, quiet and relaxing setting, then our villas are perfect,” said Robyn Walker, manager of Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas.

While there are no on-site dining facilities, Walker says that those interested in purchasing a cooked meal won’t need to go far.

“At the top of our driveway, less than a one-minute walk, are two cafes,” she said. “Both serve delicious coffee and a selection of pastries or freshly prepared light meals. And then, all within an easy stroll of the villas, there are at least 10 to 12 restaurant or dinner choices, which include a night food market open four nights per week, where locals cook specialty dishes.”

Travelers keen to try out a range of ocean activities are also in luck, according to Walker. Water options such glass-bottom lagoon cruises, paddleboarding, kayaking, kite surfing, snorkeling, swimming and sailing can all be enjoyed from Muri Beach.

For those looking to do absolutely nothing, however, Walker says the property is a great place to simply unwind by the Pacific.

“The white sand, the crystal-clear blue water of the lagoon and the mesmerizing crashing of the waves on the coral reef are a perfect backdrop for a relaxing holiday,” she said.

U.S. travelers wondering about the best way to travel to Rarotonga will be pleased to learn that Air New Zealand operates a 13-hour nonstop flight from LAX once per week.

Nightly rack rates at Crystal Blue Lagoon Villas start around $560 for double occupancy, and the villas require a three-night minimum. Commissionable to travel agents, the individual villa units can be booked for up to four people, but children must be at least 12 years old.
