Royal Hideaway Playcar, Occidental Hotels and Resorts property
in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, will be receiving the American Automobile
Association’s (AAA) coveted Five-Diamond Award for lodging. It is
the first adults-only, all-inclusive resort property to win this
distinction.
“It is with great pride that we accept this award,” said resort

We have had AAA’s Four-Diamond Award for lodging since 2000.
Receiving our fifth diamond reaffirms that our efforts to further
enhance services and accommodations at Royal Hideaway Playacar
continue to be successful.”
Out of the 57,000 hotels and resorts surveyed each year by AAA as
potential candidates for the award, less than half of 1 percent
win.

The resort, which spans 13 acres, offers guests a private villa
concierge, a full-service spa, six restaurants and an array of
watersports and land activities, such as tours of the Yucatan
Peninsula. The spacious guestrooms feature wireless Internet,
marble baths and private terraces. The two- and three-story villas
fuse Spanish and Mexican design, with winding rivers, waterfalls
and fountains connecting the rooms to the main hotel building.
