Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Promises Fantastic Weddings

The last few times I visited Los Cabos, it seemed like at least half the passengers on my flight were traveling to attend a wedding. Indeed, Los Cabos has become a major destination for those looking to tie the knot. And why not? With top-notch accommodations, gorgeous settings and great service, the destination has everything most couples are looking for when planning their nuptials.

Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort, Los Cabos has all these elements, and then some. The 270-room resort features authentic Spanish hacienda architecture, with cobblestone walkways, fountains, dark wood accents, tile roofs and ceramic mosaics. It’s a high-end, low-stress resort with all the expected amenities and a focus on quality and service. There are also several great wedding options on property.

First, there’s the chapel, which has antique artifacts from a centuries-old hacienda, giving it a historical and romantic Spanish feel. It’s actually an official chapel (one of only a few in the area), which means it can host a religious ceremony, such as a baptism or mass, as well as religious weddings. It can hold up to 100 guests, and there’s even room for a small choir.

A number of outdoor wedding spaces are found on property, as well. At the north end of the resort, near the De Cortez Grill restaurant, the hotel often hosts weddings on the sand. Walkways can be laid down, along with benches and a wedding tent. The resort can also create a fire pit here — complete with seats made of sand and covered with blankets — for after-hours gatherings, including campfires with s’mores. Since this spot is not too close to the guestrooms, noise usually isn’t an issue, making it ideal for weddings that run late into the night.

Couples can also book De Cortez Terrace, which is located near this spot, for beachside dining under the stars for up to 100 guests, or the whole restaurant for up to 200 guests.

At the other end of the property, near the resort’s Pitahayas restaurant and lounge, there’s a grass lawn on the Cabo Del Sol golf course that is ideal for couples who want an ocean view as they say “I do.” This can be combined with a reception held in Pitahayas and is great for those who want to get married by the sea but don’t want to trudge through the sand.

Finally, in the middle of the property, the Palapa Fiesta is a grassy lawn area with a gazebo overlooking the beach and ocean. This space, which accommodates up to 120 guests, can be used for the service, the reception or both. Clients can combine this area with a service in the sand on the resort’s main beach.

In addition to these great options for ceremonies, Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar wins over couples with its wide range of guestrooms, including high-end suites for pre- and post-wedding stays. There are 31 suites at the resort, but the two King Imperial Suites — with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, stunning views and a hot tub on the balcony — and three Parlor Suites are especially well-suited for wedding parties. The bride and groom can set up a pre-wedding afternoon of hairstyling, snacks, beverages and bonding with the wedding party. In addition, the bride and groom enjoy a complimentary night for every 10 rooms booked for two-night stays.

The hotel also offers a variety of pre-wedding activities, including cake decorating — which can be done competitively in the style of the television show “Cake Wars” — and floral arranging so wedding guests can learn how to make their own corsages or boutonnieres. And, of course, there are other activities available in Los Cabos, including fishing, sailing, snorkeling, ATV excursions and more.

For clients planning a wedding in Los Cabos, Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar offers the comfort of a trusted brand, a beloved property and lots of options for couples who want to go big on their big day.
