Clients can learn about the unique history and culture of the Kona Coast by experiencing Haleo, Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa’s new luau dinner and show created and produced by Island Breeze Productions.
"Our number one goal was to offer an entertaining yet educational experience for our guests," explained Steve Lindburg, general manager of the Big Island-based property. “When Island Breeze presented the idea for Haleo, which shares the legacy of the Hawaiian language and stories of Keauhou, we knew it could help accomplish what our guests tell us they want – to learn more about this very special place.”
Haleo takes audiences on a journey through time, highlighting the birth at Keauhou Bay of Kauikeauoli — who became King Kamehameha III — plus surfing stories of Heeia Bay, the battle of Kuamoo and how Kamehameha III bridged the gap of many ancient traditions as he brought the people of his kingdom into a new era.
Before the show, guests have a chance to meet the entertainers, enjoy arts and crafts such as lauhala weaving and coconut husking, listen to Hawaiian music and savor a dinner buffet of traditional Hawaiian foods and contemporary favorites, all in an outdoor setting.
Haleo takes place each Monday evening at Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa. Tickets for adults are $79.95, children (6-12) are $49.95 and guests ages 5 and under are free. For an additional cost, guests can upgrade and receive a lei, express check-in and reserved front section seating.
