The Condos of Princeville

The Sealodge by Hestara offers oceanfront views.

With its reputation for rain and its untamed coastline, the North Shore of Kauai is often daunting for travelers in search of an affordable and relaxing Hawaiian vacation. The few traditional hotels are luxurious and expensive. The Na Pali Coast is rugged and requires serious backpacking. The condos of Princeville, however, are affordable, comfortable and perfectly located for spending days on the striking Na Pali Coast and nights in the comfort of a home-like bed.

With a name that fits its collection of sprawling wooden townhouses, The Sealodge by Hestara offers oceanfront views, a serene spa-like setting and prices that range from $110 to $190 per night for one- and two-bedroom units, respectively. The units, which are cabin-esque from the exterior, are decisively modern and well-kept from the interior, often providing high-loft ceilings and quaint furnished patios.

Mauna Kai, a slightly inland neighbor, provides similar amenities and accommodations but in a jungle-like garden atmosphere. The Mauna Kai, managed by Regency Pacific Realty, is a seven- to 10-minute walk from the beach at Hanalei Bay and is easily recognizable for its flourishing hibiscus flowers and overhead decks. With units that range from one to three bedrooms, the Mauna Kai costs from $170 to $200 per night, plus a 10 percent increase during certain holiday seasons. Currently, due to the high cost of travel, Regency Pacific is offering discounts of up to 20 percent.

The Pali Ke Kua, another picturesque Princeville community, is managed by Marc Resorts and offers one- and two-bedroom units for $140 to $280, depending on season and unit-type. The Pali Ke Kua sits oceanfront with views of Hanalei Bay and mountain views of the illustrious Bali Hai. Guests can also enjoy the resort’s pool and whirlpool, as well as the thriving tropical gardens. Marc Resorts offers up to 50 percent off for agents, and it is currently working on a car or gas special to offset travel costs and encourage Kauai vacations.
