In recent months, Outrigger Hotels and Resorts has launched a fleet of new products and services for travel agents and consumers.

As it nears the end of 2018, the 71-year-old hospitality company promises to remain relevant for advisors and their clients in 2019, as well.

Following are five scoops at various Outrigger properties that agents should know about.

Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger’s Refresh
The reinvention of Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger is nearing completion. Room renovations will wrap up by the end of this year, although many of its upgraded accommodations are already available for booking. The finished product will emerge during the first quarter of 2019.

Each of the hotel’s 24 floors is named after a Hawaiian flower, and the property’s soundtrack has been created by Makana, a renowned island musician.

“Waikiki Beachcomber will be a lifestyle hotel full of crafted experiences,” said Sean Dee, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Outrigger Hotels & Resorts. “This includes ocean-inspired art exhibits and curated programming like aquatography, where guests learn how to take great underwater photos.

Agent Tip: As part of the Outrigger Expert Agent program, Waikiki Beachcomber offers $75 to agents who book clients for stays through June 30, 2019.

Enhancements at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort
One of Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort’s new group offerings, the Hawaiiloa boardroom, features decor reminiscent of an upscale, island plantation home. The seaside gathering place honors a 57-foot-long outrigger canoe that was built in the tradition of ancient Hawaiian ocean voyaging vessels.

Meanwhile, Outrigger Reef’s pool has been enhanced by six new cabanas called “hale” (houses). With names such as Hale La (Sun) and Hale Manu (Bird), each oasis comes with a snack basket, a cooler, a couch, chaises, magazines, reusable beverage containers and reef-safe sunscreen.

The pool’s welcome desk is dubbed Hookipa (hospitality) Hale. Cabana rentals range from $55 to $110.

Agent Tip: From 6-8 p.m., Outrigger Reef guests can book Hale Under the Stars, an intimate poolside cabana offering private, front-row seats for live, nightly music. An evening rental costs $45.

Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort now offers private poolside cabanas with plenty of amenities.

New Club Lounge at Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort
Discriminating clients will want to learn about Outrigger Waikiki beach Resort’s new Voyager 47 Club Lounge. Access to the lounge is reserved exclusively for guests who stay in a premium room category.

The Voyager 47 Club Lounge boasts views of the ocean, Diamond Head and Waikiki sunsets. Lounge guests can enjoy complimentary light bites and drinks in the morning and before dinner. The venue also can be booked for special events.

As a reflection of Outrigger’s dedication to the environment, all Voyager 47 Club Lounge employee uniforms are crafted from a material made from recycled plastic water bottles. Its food showcases island ingredients, and beverages include seasonal brews and local wines.

Agent Tip: Outrigger Experts who book clients in a Voyager 47 Club Lounge category by Dec. 31, 2018, get a $50 to $75 booking bonus for five-night stays through Sept. 30, 2019.

The Addition of Honua Kai Resort and Spa on Maui
Outrigger has been busy beyond Oahu, as well. New to its portfolio is Honua Kai Resort and Spa, a condominium on Maui with a prime perch on Kaanapali North Beach. Its studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom suites come with full kitchens, large lanais and in-room washer/dryers, making them appealing for families and friends traveling together.

The 38-acre property presents pools, hot tubs, a spa and fitness center, concierge services, the oceanside Duke’s Beach House Maui restaurant and a gourmet market.

“Located in an iconic destination, Honua Kai Resort and Spa is perfectly aligned with Outrigger’s growth strategy to be the premier beachfront brand in the world,” Dee said.

Agent Tip: Outrigger Experts will soon be able to stay at Honua Kai at reduced rates. Also coming soon is a $50 Honua Kai booking bonus initiative.

Travel Agent Outreach and Benefits
When agents join the Outrigger Expert Program, they get points for bookings, redeemable for cash and gift certificates. In addition, Outrigger Expert gents have access to a dedicated toll-free number for help with bookings or other issues related to their account.

The company is fully integrated with the GDS in the Sabre platform, providing up-to-the-minute availability and rates, according to Dee.

“Innovation and technology play a vital role in Outrigger’s sustained success,” Dee said. “We have made a commitment to ensuring that the best rates are available to our travel professionals. We’re committed to providing meaningful incentives to our valued travel agent partners.”

Agent Tip: Other Outrigger Expert benefits include a learning course about the company’s properties and a monthly newsletter to help agents stay on top of all things Outrigger.
