LOCATION

The Modern Honolulu boasts a convenient location at the gateway to Waikiki Beach just two minutes from world-class shopping at the Ala Moana Shopping Center and within walking distance of the silky, white sands of Waikiki Beach and the celebrated shopping area of Kalakaua Avenue.

LOBBY AND LOBBY BAR

From the moment you approach the double height teak shutters of The Modern Honolulu, you realize that you are stepping into a private world with its own separate, intense reality full of energy and excitement.

A dramatic, wall-to-wall surfboard installation by artist and internationally famed former professional surfer Herbie Fletcher is made from over 100 collected, broken surfboards from the sport’s best Pipeline surfers: Kelly Slater, Andy Irons, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Nathan Fletcher, Bruce Irons and Christian Fletcher. It hangs effortlessly above the one-of-a-kind, custom designed reception desk made from sculpted plywood which has been transformed into a natural, organic shape and finished using the techniques and traditions of local Hawaiian surfboard making.

A large, rotating bookcase divides the lobby space so it can be closed off to separate and define the Lobby Bar, which is hidden behind this secret passage as if tucked away in a castle.

MORIMOTO Waikiki

Chef Masaharu Morimoto, known to millions as star of Iron Chef and Iron Chef America, has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his seamless integration of Western and Japanese ingredients, effectively creating his own unique cuisine – one defined by innovation and inspiration.

Morimoto Waikiki is the ultimate culinary experience for discriminating guests.  A stylish dining environment, the restaurant offers a contemporary Japanese menu, infusing traditional dishes with Western ingredients and preparation. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this exceptional restaurant offers something for every taste.

SUNRISE POOL AND BAR

Climbing the lobby’s dramatic stairway to the heart of the hotel brings guests to The Modern Honolulu’s intensely vibrant and exotic inner sanctum. Here, two unique pools, each with its own bar; tropical gardens; and Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s restaurant offer a variety of different experiences for you to enjoy, day and night, at this perfect retreat and private outdoor playground.

The Sunrise Pool, located at the center of this extraordinary space, reflects the changing deep hues of the Pacific Ocean and features shallow lounging areas with chaises that appear to be floating on the water.

SPA AT THE MODERN HONOLULU

Enjoy a refreshing escape from reality at a calming spa in Waikiki. Located close to the Sunrise Pool, the Spa at The Modern Honolulu offers a full range of services in four relaxing treatment rooms, four manicure/pedicure stations and a full range of spa services, including pampering packages. Spa guests have access to locker rooms with soothing showers and complimentary bath amenities, beautiful stone sinks and a natural palate with neutral surroundings for ultimate peace.  Relish in a lavish yet healing Waikiki spa resort experience at The Modern.
