When it comes to planning destination weddings, The Kahala Hotel & Resort’s director of catering and conference services, Stuart Kotake, knows how to listen. He and his team spend countless hours of advance time learning about each bride-and-groom-to-be in order to create the perfect on-property ceremony for them.

Now, The Kahala has dreamed up a program that takes the planning process a step further, wrapping it up into a package that combines luxury and value. With The Kahala Hotel & Resort’s new Weddingmoon package, Kotake and his staff arrange everything from the location of the nuptials to post-wedding amenities while always keeping the client’s budget in mind.

Opened since 1964 and located just a short drive from Waikiki, the 338-room oceanfront resort is often considered an ideal location for weddings because it offers the peace and serenity of a neighbor island experience.

“As a destination resort, we know that wedding parties put a great deal of trust in our team of planners and managers,” said Kotake. “Most of the time, our clients can’t be here in advance to oversee for themselves the many choices and decisions that go into a wedding. We provide fast and accurate communication to make it the intimate dream wedding they’ve always wanted.”

While The Kahala does offer a range of more expensive wedding packages, the Weddingmoon package has been designed for couples on a strict budget who don’t want to compromise luxury, Kotake noted.

“Many couples are now looking for quality over quantity when planning their special day,” he said. “Rather than budget amenities, they’d rather reduce the quantity of guests but keep the quality of Kahala luxury.”

The Weddingmoon package includes an intimate oceanfront ceremony for the bride and groom at the hotel’s gazebo, a nondenominational minister and exclusive use of the resort grounds for photography. Popular locations for posing around the property include a waterfall over rocks; quiet white-sand beaches; and lagoons with dolphins and tropical fish.

As The Kahala’s planners determine the wants and needs of each couple, they make suggestions for upgrades accordingly. Clients might want signature body treatments at The Kahala Spa; a romantic beachside dinner for two served by a personal butler; drinks and dancing at The Veranda; fresh rose petals scattered on their bed at turndown; or a champagne breakfast in their room. Other newlyweds might prefer to work out at the hotel’s state-of-the-art fitness center or swim with dolphins in The Kahala’s private lagoon.

Priced at $2,800, the Weddingmoon package is valid through Dec. 31, and it requires a guestroom booking of at least three nights. Commission on the package is 10 percent.
