Mexico City is home to a lot of hotels with great views — but there’s nothing quite like The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City.
Perched in a 58-story high-rise along Paseo de la Reforma, the city’s grandest boulevard, this 153-room hotel offers vantage points like no other. During my recent stay at the property, which opened in late 2021, I was so enamored with the vista and photo opportunities that I barely even turned on the television in my guestroom.
The hotel’s memorable views are thanks in no small part to its altitude — it’s located on floors 37 to 47 — and its prized location near the entrance to the sprawling Chapultepec Park. I’d never witnessed such a sky-high view of the city’s most verdant stretch of land, and it was truly mesmerizing.
As one of the newest luxury hotels in Mexico’s capital, The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City also wows with style and services. The compact, second-floor reception area where I checked in belied the visual excitement that awaited once the elevator whisked me up to the 38th floor. There, stylish bar and restaurant Samos lures hotel guests and locals alike with sumptuous decor, outstanding service, expertly prepared cocktails and sophisticated, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. And, no matter where patrons sit, they’ll be treated to a spectacular view.
Guests should head to Samos for Mediterranean cuisine and handmade cocktails.

Our phones barely got a moment’s rest as we snapped photos of ourselves and the sunset views of Chapultepec Park. It’s easy to spot the park’s big landmarks — the stately Chapultepec Castle, the Monument to the Child Heroes, the Museum of Modern Art and, a bit farther away, the National Museum of Anthropology — all tucked into the forested land.
Having a meal here (or at least a drink) is an absolute must, even for visitors who aren’t staying at The Ritz-Carlton. Samos is stylish, modern and expansive — and that last bit is enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows. But no matter if you sit inside or on the balcony, the gorgeous view is easy to enjoy. The breakfast menu offers a satisfying variety of Mexican and international favorites, and the dinner menu is extensive and sophisticated.
Guestrooms and Amenities
A separate bank of elevators connects the public areas with the guestrooms. My mouth was agape when I entered my park-view terrace room on the 42nd floor: I could see the entirety of Chapultepec Park from my balcony, which was furnished with comfortable seating and a table. Most hotels on Paseo de la Reforma don’t have balconies — and none offer views like this — so the design and location are big selling points for The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City.
Every morning during my stay, I relished using the remote-control curtain to greet the city from my king-size bed. I appreciated several other features of the handsomely furnished guestroom, including the chaise lounge, table and chair, honor bar, large-screen television and even a delightfully retro-style radio. The room’s muted tones and well-planned lighting made for a relaxing atmosphere.

On-site features include the 12th-floor Ritz-Carlton Spa, which offers an array of treatments inspired by Aztec traditions. The facility also has a heated indoor pool with lovely city views. Even the sizable fitness center, located next to the spa, offers inspiring views. (If you prefer to take a run at ground level, the gym offers a complimentary jogging map.)
The hotel’s location next to the park and some of the city’s most revered cultural institutions, indeed, presents guests with many options for exploration. I found it easy to slip away from work to admire the artwork at the nearby Museum of Modern Art.
Importantly, the hotel is well-equipped for pandemic-era travel. I took advantage of the on-site COVID-19 testing facility, which was efficient and fast. I made an appointment for the antigen test and took it in a dedicated conference room; the cost was just $25, and I received my results in about an hour.
With its admirable design, excellent views and extensive amenities, The Ritz-Carlton, Mexico City is uniquely positioned to welcome upscale travelers and provide new ways to appreciate North America’s largest metropolis.
