A Multitude of Mother's Days

Mar 26, 2008

Recognizing mothers for all that they do, the AAA Five-Diamond Paraiso de la Bonita has taken the tribute a step further by making Mother’s Day every day. The seaside resort has introduced a three-night Mother & Daughter Time package available through Dec. 18 that’s highlighted by thalasso spa treatments, a chauffeured shopping excursion, afternoon tea in lush tropical gardens with birdsong serenades, and spa manicures and pedicures while sipping champagne. Moms and their female offspring can escape together from $3,189 based on double occupancy, plus 12 percent tax and 10 percent service charge.

“Multi-generational travel is a trend that is here to stay, and our new Mother & Daughter package highlights the appeal of luxury seaside spa resorts for mother-daughter bonding,” said Dawn Mackinnon, director of sales and marketing. “Paraiso de la Bonita wanted to offer mothers and daughters the opportunity to reconnect and maintain close relationships while doing all the fun things girls enjoy, such as spa treatments, shopping trips and afternoon tea sessions.”

Mother & Daughter Time includes marine body treatments (choice of facial or massage) at the resort's renowned Thalasso Center & Spa; spa manicure/pedicure for two, accompanied by champagne and strawberries; chauffeured shopping excursion to Playa del Carmen or Cancun for unique arts, crafts, jewelry, fashion and home design; a three-course dinner at La Canoa, known for its fusion of warm-weather cuisines, or at the oceanside Chiringuito with its grilled meats and authentic Mexican stews; full breakfast each morning; and suite accommodations. Decorated with unusual treasures collected from around the world by the resort's owners, all suites feature oversized glass and marble bathrooms, and private terraces with serene views of the Caribbean Sea.

Mothers and daughters are also welcomed with gifts that include a bottle of tequila, handmade beach bag and full-sized Bulgari bath amenities. The resort's private transportation chauffeurs them to and from the airport in Cancun. Afternoon tea with finger sandwiches is presented daily as a complimentary treat and the resort serves an endless supply of gourmet Iced Tea of the Day.

“Paraiso is perfect for mothers and daughters because it ties together the fabulous beach and location of Mexico's Riviera Maya, celebrity cache, Mexico's first Thalasso spa and progressive anti-age center and first-class dining and accommodations,” Mackinnon said.

Created by Gosselin in homage to his wife, Elisa, the 14-acre beachfront Paraiso de la Bonita is known for its dramatic architecture, striking use of color and suites decorated with treasures sourced by the Gosselins during their world travels. Suites are named after geographic inspirations such as Antigua, Jaipur, KwaZulu and Marbella. The resort is a member of The Leading Small Hotels of the World.

The highlight of a luxury getaway at Paraiso de la Bonita is its 22,000-square-foot Thalasso Center & Spa, the only certified thalassotherapy spa in Mexico. The facility combines unique therapies with ancient traditions and modern health science. Founded on the belief that the ocean is the source of all life, thalassotherapy utilizes seawater, marine algae and marine mud in its treatments.

This Mexico resort spa also offers a beachside exercise center, fitness classes, yoga and a large saltwater hydrotherapy pool for treatments or for just lounging around and enjoying the surrounding scenery. Guests can also experience the Mayan healing ceremony of the Temazcal. This ancient ritual with traditional steam and herbal essences is held with a Shaman who guides participants through the various stages of the unforgettable experience.

Thalassotherapy is mainly recommended for preventative health treatments, physical and emotional exhaustion, depression, obesity, cellulite, rheumatism, peripheral circulatory problems, recovery from surgery or illness, ear/nose/throat conditions and dental conditions.

Popular treatments featured in the Mother & Daughter Time package are the Marine Aquarelle Facial, Micro-Blasted Seaweed Facial, Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Hot Stones Holistic Massage. The facility also includes an exercise center, large saltwater hydrotherapy pool and fitness and yoga classes.
