If you aren't looking carefully, you could easily pass Charly's Place, a tiny eatery off the side of the Transpeninsular Highway in Rosarito, Mexico. Just a few miles from downtown, Charly's is a simple, brightly decorated taqueria that offers delicious and inexpensive Baja-style Mexican food. A meal and alcoholic drinks for two people can be had for around $20 __ in fact, Charly's won the title of "Best Cheap Eats" in the Best of Baja 2014 awards.
Try the "tacos de camaron al mojo de ajo," which are tortillas filled with shrimp soaked in a super-garlicky butter sauce and topped with all the fixings. Also, there are plenty of deals available at Charly's: The restaurant hosts happy hour seafood buffets on Thursday nights, in addition to karaoke nights, holiday events and frequent entertainment.
I left full and happy, with a feeling of blissful relaxation __ which may or may not have been partially induced from the strong margaritas.
