Family Business

Nov 06, 2002
Clients looking for upscale accommodations where they can do business or take their children should appreciate the new Faro del Cabo Grand Class All Inclusive in Los Cabos.

The new property offers such bonuses as a la carte restaurants and unlimited golf. The resort, which opened Sept. 14, is the latest and first all-inclusive offering from Mexico-Hospitalidad Latina Group. Other hotels in the group include Fenix Hotel in Guadalajara and Hotel Playa Real in Mazatlan. Faro del Cabo’s key market is the Western United States, according to Jose Louise Toledo, sales and marketing director for Faro del Cabo Grand Class All Inclusive. The resort is courting the upscale market, ages 35 and older, including honeymooners, golfers and meeting and incentive groups.

Accommodations

The property is located on the beach, in the historic town of San Jose del Cabo, on the tip of the Baja Peninsula, approximately six miles from San Jose del Cabo International Airport.

Its 333 oceanview rooms include a Presidential Suite, four master suites and 10 junior suites. They offer terraces, whirlpools, cable televisions, radios, room safes, air conditioning, ceiling fans, direct phone lines with voice mail and data connection, irons and ironing boards. Twenty-four-hour room service also is available.

Activities

For active guests there is a gym, a climbing wall, five crystal-tile pools, tennis, racquetball, volleyball and basketball courts, paddle tennis, a jogging track and free golf at the nearby San Jose Golf Course.

For an extra charge, an on-property travel agency will make arrangements for such activities as horseback riding, ATV excursions, deep-sea fishing and whale watching.

Faro del Cabo offers La Tortuga Kids’ Club, a playground, two children’s pools and the Biosfera Junior’s Club for kids 9 and older. The resort also provides four bars, entertainment, theme nights and five restaurants with a la carte menus.

The highlight of the property is Cielito Lindo Sky Bar, located inside a 186-foot tall white lighthouse, with 360-degree panoramic views of the Sea of Cortes.

For business travelers, there are more than 14,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, accommodating up to 1,000 people in a collection of private rooms and banquet halls.

A high-tech business center is available with an English-speaking staff to assist guests.

The 10,000-square-foot gym and spa will open in January. Guests will have access to the gym, but spa treatments will cost extra.

Rack rates in 2003 will range from $160 to $230 per person, double. Guests ages 12 to 17 pay $75 per child, and children 11 and younger stay free.
